In a poster presented at the end of March in the Annual Meeting of The Society of American Gut and Endoscopic Surgeons, Prof. Arthur Bohdjalian of the Medical Varsity of Vienna showed clearly that the DIAMOND (previously TANTALUS) System is well endured by patients and detrimental event rate drops rapidly and acutely a couple of weeks after implantation. Follow up of 138 Type 2 Diabetes patients implanted with the DIAMOND System in the States, Europe and Asia was conducted for as much as 4 years with a mean follow up time of 16 months.

A quick and heavy reduction in every kind of harmful events was observed over a period of time with the majority of events being cleared up within one month of implantation. They were mild to moderate in nature and clarified inside fourteen days with no sequelae. Device related events were few (9% of events) and were treated by on-site restructuring of stimulation parameters by the company field technicians.
